IA! IA! IA! Get cracking on your work.
Here is what you need to do in the near future:
Monday: November 2: Have a revised / updated version of your Summary of Evidence. You need to nail this down. Make sure you have citations / source info. Be focused on your topic sentence / focus points - be focused and stay focused.
Work on the OPVLs you are choosing. Not Due Monday, but you should have a draft developing.

Specifics:
- You do not need to write this in paragraph form, but it must answer the question and show substantiated support. A detailed outline is a great approach.
- Try to collate information from all the different sources we have used so far and make a substantiated and articulate argument.
- Try to incorporate several of the primary sources we've investigated in the Origins of WWI and WWII book.

Summary and OPVL of two document case studies
Due Date: Thursday Sept. 17
Using the "Origins of the First and Second World War" document case study on pages 65 -66, choose two to analyze.
For the two you choose to study, give a brief description / summary of the document and then write an OPVL for each. For the Origin focus on who is stating the information and the context of this rather than using the bibliographical information at the bottom of the passage.

Origins of World War II: Assignment
Using the Cambridge Book read pages 53 - 64 and do the same note taking process for each of the headings: Reading is due Monday with notes. Keep them short and concise.
Additionally, remember to have your IA topic moving along. I will have a Google IA History calendar very soon.

Schedule of events for the next few weeks
A quick list of assignments for the next week:
Ok, so here is what we decided to focus on for each week:
Monday: IA Day
Tuesday and Wednesday: Paper 2 topic: World War II
Thursday: TBD
Friday: Zapata and Villa day
For Wednesday: pages 43 to 53 and a thesis and two supporting sentences for each of the headings in the section read. (there are 5 headings to focus on)
For Friday: Chapter summary on Villa and Zapata from "The convergence of the Twain"
For next Tuesday, you need to have a preliminary question for your History IA and a "rough" plan of investigation.

Blog-o-assignment #1: Set up your Blog:

Your immediate task for your blog is to set one up. You are to complete the blog set up by Wednesday at the beginning of class. We will be looking at them and working with them in class.
1) Go to blogger.com and set it up. Be creative and have fun. You can make it as interesting as you want, but keep it academic.
2) Email me your blog address. My email is judesen@riverstoneschool.org
I will be posting your site on my main blog. Keep your titles and addresses simple.

Expectations and Outcomes
Rules and expectations:
1) Keep it focused on History or at least academics. If you want to create a blog to discuss your love of beanie babies, Twilight characters or BSU football stats, great, but this is not the spot. If it is cool academic stuff, add it to your blog. Parents, school staff, other students and I will be looking at this regularly, so keep it to the sort of things you want all to see.
2) I do encourage you to be as creative as possible and make your blog unique and interesting. Images, links, photos and any content added to your site must be academic in nature. If you find something interesting, please post it, but if you are questioning your judgment and asking, "should I do this?" or "would my mother approve?" it is probably not advisable.
3) When answering questions given, plagiarism and using the works of others. You are welcome to add information from different sites, but you must always give credit to those who came up with it first. Make it a link or a specific citation. If you are in doubt, cite it. If you try to pass work of someone else (even a fellow classmate) you will receive a zero.
4) You will be receiving weekly assignments and tasks via my blog. These are considered assignments and an important part of your overall grade. You are responsible for keeping up to date.
